Derbydown is nationally recognized as one of the foremost show hunter barns in the country. It is a training, boarding, showing and sales business. Derbydown is a multi-level horse facility providing all levels of instruction to A-quality showing. We host 2 outdoor rings, 1 indoor ring, 13 grass fields, 2 barns housing 37 stalls, and several homes.

Derbydown was founded in 1947 by Mary Warner Brown. It had two prior locations but was always in Chester County, Pennsylvania. In 1959 Derbydown found its permanent home at 340 E. Hillendale Road in Kennett Square. It originally served as a cattle farm but was converted into a horse facility when Mary moved in.

Derbydown is now owned and operated by Louise Warner Serio. It is a training, boarding, showing and sales business with a multi-level horse facility. Serio and her team provide all levels of instruction to A-quality showing, and are located in Kennett Square, PA. Louise began training at Derbydown in 1975 and her daughter and assistant trainer, Christina Serio, who specialized in jumpers, now joined her. Together they consistently train and ride champions in every division at the most prestigious shows on the East Coast. Some of Louise’s championship mounts include Gray Slipper, Red Panda, Rock Star, Rock On and Castle Rock.

Louise also dedicates herself to the growth of the equestrian sport, having helped to found the America Hunter-Jumper Foundation, which is now part of the United States Hunter Jumper Association. She currently serves on the Board of Directors and multiple committees. In 2011, she continued her commitment to the sport by helping found the Brandywine Valley Summer Series, a two-week horse show focused on showcasing excellence in the hunter divisions.
