| About Derbydown |
|
Derbydown is nationally recognized as one of the foremost show hunter barns in the country. It is a training, boarding, showing and sales business. Derbydown is a multi-level horse facility providing all levels of instruction to A-quality showing. We host 2 outdoor rings, 1 indoor ring, 13 grass fields, 2 barns housing 37 stalls, and several homes. Derbydown was founded in 1947 by Mary Warner Brown. It had two prior locations but was always in Chester County, Pennsylvania. In 1959 Derbydown found its permanent home at 340 E. Hillendale Road in Kennett Square. It originally served as a cattle farm but was converted into a horse facility when Mary moved in.
Louise was instrumental in founding the American Hunter-Jumper Foundation. The AHJF is a non-profit, member-supported organization whose mission is to develop and promote the equestrian sport of show hunter-and-jumper competition. It does this through the Young Riders Education Program and other programs designed to meet the industry's needs. The AHJF is the proud presenter of the Legacy Cup and the World Championship Hunter Rider Awards.
